Rihanna and Drake dined together in New York City prior to MTV’s Video Music Awards and hung out at the same awards show after party, departing only minutes from one another.
Last Friday, Rihanna met Drake at Manhattan hotspot Sons of Essex with a bunch of the rapper’s friends. Though they were in a group, the famous duo reportedly kept mostly to themselves while sitting across the table from each other.
"They sat in a back room, the lights were dimmed, and there was sort of a barricade of tables blocking their group off," an insider told E! News. "Drake and Rihanna sat right across the table from one another. They were avoiding photos, and the security kindly asked some fans to leave, because they were trying to get too close."
Following the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Rihanna and Drake were once again in each other’s company. They both hit up the PDH Rooftop party, where Beyoncé and Jay-Z were also in attendance. At the VMA after party, Rihanna, who was wearing a black sparkled minidress, left just minutes before Drake made his exit, reported The Sun.
Now that Rihanna’s relationship with Chris Brown appears to be behind her, Drake might be figuring that now is the time to make his move.
“He wasn’t trying to be all up in the mix while she was figuring s–t out with Chris and going through his bulls–t,” a source told HollywoodLife.com. “He was nice, gave [Rihanna] her space and the time she needed to do her and figure out her relationship or whatever the f–k she was calling it this last time with [Chris].”
