Prominent far-right commentator Candace Owens has officially announced her departure from the conservative news outlet The Daily Wire.

Owens took to social media on Friday to confirm the rumors and expressed her sense of liberation. She hinted at announcements in the weeks ahead.

The split was initially revealed by Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of The Daily Wire, who stated on a public platform that the relationship between the media outlet and Owens had come to an end. The exact reasons behind the separation remain undisclosed.

Owens, who joined the organization in 2021, was among the most recognizable and influential figures associated with The Daily Wire, known for her appearances on Fox News and Infowars. She is currently engaged in a speaking tour alongside Turning Point USA, a conservative organization that has gained significant influence within the Republican Party.

An outspoken personality in right-wing media, Owens has often espoused conspiracy theories.

She has notably clashed with Ben Shapiro, co-founder of The Daily Wire, particularly in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. Owens has taken a critical stance on Israel’s handling of the conflict in Gaza, a position that critics argue has veered into the realm of antisemitism.

In a post on a social media platform on November 13, Owens wrote, “No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money.”

Shapiro reposted Owens with his response, “Candace, if you feel that taking money from The Daily Wire somehow comes between you and God, by all means quit.”

Owens then claimed Shapiro had “been acting unprofessional and emotionally unhinged for weeks now,” and went on to say he “cross[ed] a certain line when you come for scripture and read yourself into it.” She added, “I will not tolerate it.”

Established in 2015 by Shapiro and Boreing, The Daily Wire identifies itself as one of America’s rapidly growing media companies, providing news, opinions and entertainment from a right-of-center perspective.

The dispute escalated when Owens appeared on Tucker Carlson‘s conservative talk show and denounced Shapiro’s remarks as ad hominem attacks.

In addition to her public feud with Shapiro, Owens recently faced criticism for her unsubstantiated claims about the gender identity of the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, Brigitte Marie-Claude Macron.

Owens alleged on a social media platform that Macron’s wife is transgender, a statement that the French president addressed himself this month.

Macron responded to the claim, “The worst thing is the false information and fabricated scenarios…People eventually believe them and disturb you, even in your intimacy.”
