Ricky Martin’s Nephew Withdraws Sexual Abuse Complaint Against Him
A criminal complaint was filed against singer Ricky Martin accusing him of sexually abusing and stalking his nephew, but the unnamed accuser has dropped the charges. The rumor first broke when a restraining order requested by the nephew against Martin was revealed.
A judge granted the temporary restraining order at the beginning of this month, and he was also accused of stalking and harassing his nephew after having a brief romantic relationship for seven months. The petitioner is reportedly the son of Martin’s half-sister
Martin’s attorneys told People that “the accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure.” They also added that the situation “was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them.”
However, Puerto Rican police records show that Martin’s nephew reported receiving two phone calls on Tuesday night threatening him to not speak at the hearing. One call allegedly read his home address to him, with another saying “if you speak at the hearing, we’ll kill you.”
The crimes Martin has been accused of carry a potential sentence of as long as 50 years under Puerto Rican law.
