Ricky Martin & Husband Jwan Yosef Announce Divorce After Six Years Of Marriage

Singer Ricky Martin and his husband, artist Jwan Yosef, have announced that they are getting divorced. 

The two have come to this decision after six years of marriage and posted a joint statement on their Instagram accounts on Thursday. 

“For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect, and dignity for our children-preserving and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all of these wonderful years.”

The couple specified that their attention will be focused on their family and children.

“Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on our genuine friendship as we continue the joint upbringing of our children.”

They concluded by thanking their fans and friends for their thoughts, “As always, we thank you for all the love and support we received throughout our marriage. We are united in nurturing this new chapter of our lives.”

The couple first met back in 2015 and started dating about six months later. In 2016, they got engaged and wed privately in 2017. Together the couple has two children, Lucia and Renn, and Yosef is stepfather to Martin’s twins Valentino and Matteo. 

The couple has spoken about their private life at home in the past. Martin shared that they want their children to learn multiple languages, as Martin and Yosef both know several languages. Yosef specifically stated that he is focusing on teaching his two youngest children Arabic rather than Swedish or English. 

Yosef is a Swedish painter born in Syria and has won several awards for his art. This includes the Beers Contemporary Award and the Threadneedle Prize both in London. He additionally won the Archiproducts Design Award in 2020 for an arrangement of rugs that he designed himself. Earlier this year, he opened a studio in L.A. 

Martin, who is from Puerto Rico, is best known for his songs “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and “She Bangs.” He has been nominated 48 times and won 17 major awards, including two Grammy Awards and two MTV Music Video Awards.

Martin is also an actor and has starred in American Crime Story, Hercules, The Voice Austraila and Cellula. He is also set to appear in the new Apple  TV+ series Palm Royale. In addition to this, Martin is set to go on The Trilogy Tour with Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull.
