Ricky Martin Faces New Sexual Assault Allegations From Nephew

Singer Ricky Martin is facing more sexual assault allegations from his nephew, and his lawyer called them “wildly offensive.”

Regarding the new allegations, Martin’s lawyer, José Andréu-Fuentes said, “These claims are wildly offensive and completely untethered from reality. When this man previously made similar allegations, his legal case had to be withdrawn — not least because he himself admitted under oath that Ricky Martin had never assaulted him in any way.”

He added, “Now, after being sued for trying to extort Mr. Martin, he is attempting to spread his lies again. It is beyond time that the media stops giving this deeply troubled individual the oxygen of publicity and allows him to get the help he so clearly needs.”

In July 2022, Martin’s nephew, Dennis Sanchez Martin, first filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against his uncle and demanded a restraining order. Sanchez alleged that there was a seven-month long sexual relationship and emotional abuse.

In response, the Latin pop star filed a $20 million lawsuit against his nephew over alleged extortion.

His attorney, Marty Singer, brushed off Sanchez’s claims at the time as “deep mental health challenges” and emphasized, “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and never would be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”

His 21-year-old nephew dropped the allegations on July 21.

Attorneys Joaquín Monserrate Matienzo, Carmelo Dávila and Harry Massanet Pastrana said in a statement, “The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter.”

They noted, “The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case.”

According to Puerto Rican police records, Sanchez did reportedly receive two threatening phone calls urging him to stay silent at the hearing. They allegedly read out his home address and warned, “If you speak at the hearing, we’ll kill you.”

Sanchez has previously been issued two restraining orders in a separate case involving stalking.
