Ricky Martin has released a statement denying allegations of having a romantic relationship with his nephew.
“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” Martin’s attorney, Marty Singer said in a statement
“The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting,” he continued. “We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
The allegations started circulating online on Friday. It is unclear if the nephew, who was not named, has a lawyer to represent him.
The rumors also come a week after a Puerto Rico judge issued a restraining order against Martin, 50. The restraining order was filed under the country’s domestic violence law according to police spokesperson, Axel Valencia.
