Star Wars is known for its iconic music has spawned a lot of tribute music in its time. But for the first time, with the birth of a new age for the saga, there will be a full album, specifically, an electronic album, inspired by The Force Awakens.
On Monday, music legend Rick Rubin announced that he has curated and produced a music compilation centering around sound elements from the Star Wars films, to be released on Feb. 19 digitally and March 18 physically with Hollywood Records/American Recordings. It will be called Star Wars Headspace. The full-length dance album will be “infused with Star Wars sound clips and effects.
Rubin will be joined by big producers in the sonic scene from Flying Lotus, Rustie, Baauer, GTA, Röyksopp, J.J. Abrams, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the latter two going by the name “Shag Kava.”
“The coolest thing,” Ellison (Flying Lotus) said, “is having my name near a Star Wars logo, officially.”
