Former Texas Governor Rick Perry will reportedly be competing for the Mirror Ball Trophy on season 23 of Dancing with the Stars.
Perry, who served as the governor of Texas from 2000-2015, has joined the cast of the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Perry confirmed the news himself on Twitter, and further revealed that he had been partnered with Emma Slater. The politician also explained that he was joining Dancing with the Stars in an effort to raise awareness for veterans issues.
“I’m dedicated to helping #veterans however possible,” Perry tweeted along with a picture of himself and Slater. “And I’m going to use @dancingabc as a stage to do that. #DWTS.”
In addition to Perry, it was also recently revealed that singer and actress Jana Kramer, actress Marilu Henner and rapper Vanilla Ice would be competing on DWTS. Calvin Johnson, the former NFL star, Indy race car driver James Hinchcliffe, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez are in the lineup, as are Brady Bunch actress Maureen McCormick, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Amber Rose and actor Jake T. Austin.
The 23rd season of Dancing With the Stars will premiere Monday, Sept. 12 on ABC at 8/7c.
Brown will be accompanied by guest artists Scotty McCreery, Mitchell Tenpenny, Ashley Cooke and Dasha.
