Richie Incognito, the Miami Dolphins lineman embroiled in a bullying scandal with his former teammate Jonathan Martin, is currently being held on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
Incognito and a friend were hanging out and drinking on Thursday night when the pro football player admitted that he might need professional help to deal with his emotions, reported TMZ. The embattled lineman, who has admitted to having issues with anger management and depression in the past, was worried about the effects of seeking professional help, but ultimately chose to check himself in to a facility.
Not long after Incognito arrived at the facility, he began to have second thoughts. Despite the fact that his initial admittance had been voluntary, others present were able to have him involuntarily committed.
In addition to talking about the Martin scandal, Incognito had allegedly opened up to his friend about why he wrecked his Ferrari with a baseball bat earlier in the day. When police had been investigating the car’s damage, Incognito had admitted it had been his handy work, and that it was his way of venting his frustrations.
"Oh, that was just me venting, that was my self expression, that's a piece of art," he told Fox 10. "The happiest day of my life was when I got that car, and now the second-happiest day is going to be when I donate it to charity."
"The Ferrari is a story unto itself," Incognito added "The Ferrari is one entity, but I will tell you this: The Ferrari is going to be for sale through my mission, which is helping the brotherhood, whatever brotherhood it is."
While the bullying accusations levied at Incognito first emerged back in November of last year, it wasn’t until Feb. 14 that an investigation found Incognito guilty of harassing Martin.
