‘RHOSLC’ Star Jennie Nguyen Fired After Anti-BLM Posts Resurface

The reality TV show star Jennie Nguyen has been fired from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City after several racially insensitive social media posts she had made in the past came to light.

Jennie, 44, became part of the RHOSLC cast at the start of its second season in September 2021. Earlier this month, fans uncovered some old posts from the reality TV star’s Facebook account dating back to summer 2020, during the Black Lives Matter protests period. The posts appeared to contain anti-Black Lives Matter sentiments, referring to protesters as “thugs,” “rioters” or “violent gangs.”

One of the alleged posts said: “I’m sick of people saying cops need more training. You had 18 years to teach your kids it’s wrong to loot, steal, set buildings ablaze, block traffic, laser people’s eyes, overturn cars, destroy buildings and attack citizens. Who failed who?”

On January 19, Nguyen addressed the posts she made via Instagram: “I want to acknowledge and apologize for my deleted Facebook posts from 2020 that resurfaced today,” she wrote. “At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were.”

Bravo announced on Instagram that Nguyen will no longer be part of the show.

“We recognize we failed to take appropriate action once her offensive social media posts were brought to our attention,” Bravo wrote. “Moving forward, we will work to improve our processes to ensure we make better informed and more thoughtful casting decisions.”

One of RHOSLC‘s stars, Heather Gay, along with several other cast members, criticized Nguyen’s actions. Gay addressed the backlash via Instagram last week: “There can be no haven in this world for hateful anti-black and violent rhetoric. It is up to all of us to do the work of anti-racism and educate ourselves on the experiences of others. I am constantly learning and want to use this platform to lead with love and empathy while condemning actions of ignorance and racism.” She also added, “BLACK LIVES MATTER and I will never stand by or support anyone who says otherwise.”
