Rep. Madison Cawthorn Says Leaked Nude Video Of Him With Man Was Just ‘Being Crass’

Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-North Carolina) addressed a video released by an opposition group that showed him nude in bed with a male “being crass with a friend.”

The North Carolina Republican went on Twitter to explain the video immediately after it was posted on social media.

“A new hit against me just dropped,” Cawthorn responded. “Years ago, in this video, I was being crass with a friend, trying to be funny. We were acting foolish and joking. That’s it. I’m NOT backing down. I told you there would be a drip drip campaign. Blackmail won’t win. We will.”

The young politician became a member of the Congress back in 2020 when he won over then-President Donald Trump‘s endorsed candidate in the primary to replace then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in Congress.

However, Cawthorn has been the center of several controversies in recent months, damaging House Republicans, who are trying to win a majority in November.

Last month, Cawthorn was issued a summons for bringing a loaded handgun through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint at the Charlotte airport. He has also been facing charges of driving with his license revoked. He recently said that his colleagues on Capitol Hill participate in cocaine orgies, was accused of insider trading, had photos leaked of him wearing lingerie during a cruise ship game show and called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “a thug” and that the Ukrainian government was “incredibly evil.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has spoken to the freshman lawmaker about his latest behavior and the harm he was causing for his caucus.

“He’s got to turn himself around,” McCarthy told reporters. “I just told him he’s lost my trust, and he’s going to have to earn it back. I laid out everything I find that’s unbecoming. He’s got a lot of members upset. You can’t just make statements out there.”

Another response regarding Cawthorn emerged from Wendy Nevarez, a Republican running against him, in which she expressed her concern and embarrassment about her rival’s actions.

“When we talk about Western North Carolina, we talk about our values and how good our people are and how beautiful our mountains are, and all of a sudden things like this come out and just reflect poorly on our community,” Nevarez said. “I really don’t even like dignifying his behavior with answers, really give him too much attention and honestly, it’s probably what he does a lot of this for, to be honest, is to get the attention.”
