Renee Zellweger, on the Bridget Jones’s Baby set in London, shot a scene with a fake baby bump on Wednesday.
Zellweger, 46, was photographed for the first time today as pregnant Bridget Jones for the third film in the popular comedy franchise. The actress was shooting scenes for the project outside a supermarket in Woolwich in London. True to Bridget’s notoriously questionable style, Zellweger was clad in a Breton top underneath a blue faux fur coat that struggled to close against the baby’s belly.
Unlike the previous two Bridget Jones films, the last of which – Edge of Reason – came out 14 years ago, Bridget Jones’s Baby will not follow the book’s plot. Instead, it will follow author Helen Fielding‘s old columns. Bridget won’t be raising two children alone following the death of her partner but will find herself unexpectedly pregnant. By whom, it’s not known.
Joining the cast of Bridget Jones this time around is former Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey. “Nice to be working in England,” Dempsey captioned a picture on Instagram. “Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with! A good couple of days rehearsing at Pinewood Studios. I really like it here!”
While it was speculated that Dempsey could play a new love interest for Bridget, set photos from earlier this week tell a different story. It seems as though Dempsey could be playing the husband of Sally Philips‘ character Shazza.
Bridget Jones’s Baby, directed by Sharon Maguire, is slated to hit theaters in September 2016.
