Sean Lowe sent two ladies home empty-handed in the second rose ceremony of this season's The Bachelor, while a third left of her own accord.
His first one-on-one date of the episode was with Sarah, the 26-year-old ad exec who was born without her left arm. Sean and Sarah traveled to their date via helicopter, landing on the top of a skyscraper. The pair shared a champagne toast – after freefalling down the building's 35 floors. This was an especially meaningful date for Sarah, as she was once turned down to go zip-lining with her father in Las Vegas due to her disability.
"'And my dad told me in that moment that, he said, 'You know, Sarah, this is why you need to find a guy that's gonna be like strong enough to go through moments like this in life with you, and he's gonna be strong and comforting and gonna know how to handle situations like this,'" she told Lowe. "And then, flash forward to today, it really meant a lot that you had the faith in me and the courage that I could do it, and I just thought that was important to share that with you."
They ended their date back on the roof of the skyscraper with their first kiss.
Then came the group date. The 13 remaining contestants met Sean for a photo shoot at a magnificent mansion. For the shoot, the women were separated into four groups: vampires, cowgirls, historical and sexy. Each bachelorette took a picture with Sean – the winner for the hottest photo earning a three-book cover deal with romance novel publishing house Harlequin. It came as little shock that model Kristy blew the others out of the water.
After the shoot, the entire group reconvened around the pool, with all of the female competitors vying for alone time with Sean. Leslie, after initially going kiss-less throughout her one-on-one time with Sean, snuck one in while he was cozying up with Kristy. Katie, the yoga instructor, decided to take leave of Lowe after deciding that the dating show wasn't her thing, while Kacie B. received some hope that she might not be condemned to the friend zone.
Bridal stylist Desireee landed the final official one-on-one date of the night. The lucky girl found herself in a most unlucky situation when what she thought was a million-dollar piece of art shattered and she fielded the blame. Rest assured, it was a prank by Sean that was all part of the date. Since she handled Sean's bit of mischief with such good-humor, the bachelor brought her back to his place for dinner and some hot tub action – and a rose.
"Wanna know a secret?" he asked her. "You've seen every side of me, like, this is me, you've seen a 100 percent of me, and no one else has brought that out of me yet. We're a pretty good match."
Before the rose ceremony, ever the gentleman, Sean sought out the women he hadn't spent much time with leading up to decision time. This brought on a question from Robyn about what Sean prefers physically in a woman. "'It doesn't matter.' I've dated everybody," he told her, "and when I say everybody, I mean Hispanic, Persian, my last girlfriend—black. I don't really have criteria. It's the woman and it's the mind behind the physical appearance."
At the ceremony, it was Brooke and Diana who would follow Katie's mid-episode departure after Sean left them empty handed.
