Monday night's The Voice saw coaches Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green sending singers Pip and James Massone home from their respective teams in the Instant Elimination segment. This leaves Jamar Rogers, Cheesa, and Juliet Simms singing for Green, while Katrina Parker, Mathai, and Tony Lucca remain on Levine's team.
After performances by the contestants that included spirited renditions of Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like a Bird" (Mathai), Aerosmith's "Cryin'" (Simms), Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" (Massone), Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" (Rogers), Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know," (Pip), Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing," and even Britney Spears' "…Baby One More Time" (Lucca), the judges got down to performances of their own.
Levine took the stage with his team for "Instant Karma" while Green sang "Dancing in the Street" with his group. Then Green reunited with his old hip-hop group Goodie Mob to perform the new "Fight to Win."
Finally, after all the fun and celebration, it was time to send contestants home, even though Levine called the Instant Elimination requirement "stupid." He let Pip go, telling the nineteen-year-old that, "it's been an amazing experience." Green, too, had kind words for his cut, Massone. "You helped me grow so much," Green said. "I love you."
