RECAP: Sons Of Anarchy's Tara Takes On Gemma

The FX network's motorcycle gang drama, Sons of Anarchy, has been markedly brutal and bloody in this season, its fifth, and the latest episode, "Ablation," was no exception.

“Ablation” centered around Gemma (Katey Sagal) being in the hospital after landing in a car wreck that injured Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Tara's (Maggie Siff) son. Last week's accident portrayed Gemma getting high before driving the vehicle, a little detail she tried to keep under wraps in this episode, before caving and confessing to Nero (Jimmy Smits), who then told Jax and Tara. Tara, going ballistic at the news, punched Gemma in the face.

Jax was also busy trying to figure out the identity of the shooter who tried to kill him and Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) in the previous week's episode. After he finally succeeded, Jax cut off the shooter’s hands and sent one to Damon Pope (Harold Perrineau) and the other to Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie), who both connected the prints to a gun-for-hire. When Jax went on to track down the man's brother-in-law, he found out that he had been hired by Frankie Diamonds (Chuck Zito).

Then, Jax responded to a call from Nero only to be fooled by Frankie, who was holding both Nero and Lyla (Winter Ave Zoli) hostage. Frankie then drove off with Nero’s car and money, forcably taking Chibs along with him and knocking him out with a blow to the head before fleeing. But before Frankie left, he revealed that Clay (Ron Perlman) was behind the house invasions. In an act of revenge for injuring his son, the episode concluded with Jax demanding that Gemma begin sleeping with Clay in order to get more information about his behind-the-scenes scheming.

The fifth season of Sons continues to get more and more twisted with each coming episode, and soon it will come time for more heads to roll. The question is, who's heads will be rolling? And who will be pulling the trigger? Sons of Anarchy airs Tuesdays on FX at 10 p.m. EST. Fans should tune in, because at this rate, you never know what episode could be your favorite character's last.
