Buckwild, MTV’s latest reality show, shines the cameras on nine young men and women in Sissonville, West Virginia.

It’s a bit of a mash-up between the redneck culture of Honey Boo Boo and the drunken, violent, hookup laden Jersey Shore scene. The series premiere debuted with as much moderation and class as one might expect — so it just might be a hit.

Of the nine cast mates, there are just three guys. Shane is the embodiment of Buckwild from the 'stache, to the accent, to his ability to fashion a pool out of the bed of a pickup truck. Then there’s Tyler, the good-looking one who is probably going to be the rope an in undeserved tug-of-war for his affections. Joey, the last of the guys, is all set to be the odd one out – neither suave nor redneck enough to make a mark.

Anna has the biggest personality of the girls, getting into a verbal brawl with a neighbor that gets her and the rest of her roommates evicted. Cara looked to be the most innocent of the bunch — until she had sex with Tyler in Anna’s bed. Salwa flashed the guys for a cool $100. Katy is the gossip who tells Anna that Cara and Tyler had sex in her bed — signaling she’ll be the center of more drama in the future. Shae likes to think she’s “one of the guys.” And, Ashley… who’s Ashley, again?

Throughout the episode they rolled down hills in tires, spun out in puddles of mud (muddin’), jumped into the aforementioned dump truck pool, and jumped off a bridge into an unidentified body of water. If that’s any indication of what’s to come, Buckwild might just be able to fill the shoes Jersey Shore left behind.
