Now that American Idol is well into its series of live broadcasts, it can comment on the latest hot topics, such as Jennifer Lopez's peekaboo Oscars dress.
During Tuesday's episode of the singing show, now in its 11th season, host Ryan Seacrest introduced the judges — including Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson — with a special comment for Lopez. “JLo is here with another dress tonight,” Seacrest said with a Cheshire Cat grin, alluding to Lopez's dazzling red carpet look that appeared to expose her areola.
Tyler also could not help laughing at the expense of his co-judge.“Who am I?” he asked, before fake-sneezing and pulling the left side of his shirt down. Lopez, flabbergasted, defended herself with, “It was no nipple!”
The same defense had been issued by her stylist following the 84th Annual Academy Awards. "The Oscar dress was custom-made for Jennifer by designer Zuhair Murad," Mariel Haenn told MTV News on Monday. "The dress fit perfectly to her every inch. There were cups built in and there's no chance that there were any how do you say? 'Slips.'"
While some watching Lopez's entrance onto the red carpet were already buzzing with speculation that her nipple was showing, the discussion really heated up when she took to the stage with her What to Expect When You’re Expecting co-star Cameron Diaz to present the Academy Awards for Best Costume Design and Make-Up.
By then, the fake Twiiter account @JLOsNipple was well on its way to amassing more than 5,000 followers.
