RECAP: Chord Overstreet's 'Trouty Mouth' Returns To 'Glee'

Glee covered a lot of ground in Tuesday night's episode — so much that it seemed to toss out all rationality and logic just to keep things moving. Quinn wants to go to Yale? What?!

First things first, though: Trouty Mouth is back! Chord Overstreet reprised his role as the once homeless Sam Evans.

The episode kicked off with Finn (Cory Monteith) finding himself unable to deliver a proper performance in sectionals and somehow coming up with the totally inexplicable remedy of bringing Sam back. So along with Rachel (Lea Michele), he sets off to recruit Sam to return to McKinley High only to discover … uh oh … Sam's body has been invaded by an erotic dancing alien named White Chocolate!

Wait, no — White Chocolate is Sam's stage name. He's got to earn money for his suffering family, and what better way to do it than to cash in on those abs? (Answer: convince Dad to sell that really nice house and shack up in something a bit more suitable for a po' family.) After White Chocolate's eye-popping stage performance, we learn that he would like to return to McKinely after all. Yay! Excitement ensues.

Of course, Glee wouldn’t be Glee without its share of teenage baby drama. Quinn (Dianna Agron) still wants her daughter back from adopted mother Shelby (Idina Menzel) and decides to spill the beans about Shelby’s love affair with Puck (Mark Salling). But she's foiled by her own dumb decision to tell Rachel, who tries to get the whole glee club to stop Quinn. And when it's all said and done, and Shelby's made Quinn realize she's going to get old, Quinn reveals that she has her eyes set on getting into Yale. Yes, that Yale — to study drama. (Hey, at least she's got a strong background in something that goes by that name.)

On top of all this, Glee also manages to squeeze in a glaringly stereotypical follow-up to the "Asian F" episode. Mike (Harry Shum, Jr.) has to give up his dream of dancing to become a doctor to fulfill his familial obligations. Of course, this doesn’t sit well with girlfriend Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), so she confronts Mike's father (Keong Sim). Thanks but no thanks, Tina. Both Mike Jr. and Mike Sr. end up pretty irritated with you. But, in the end, Mike’s father comes around and takes his seat among the rest of the supporting audience during sectionals. It's a very Sister Act 2 moment, but we're touched.

Wait! That's not all. More fierceness between Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Sebastian (Grant Gustin) as the determined Warbler tries to come between Kurt and his boyfriend, Blaine (Darren Criss). Kurt finally fights for his man and tells Sebastian to step off. He also informs Blaine of his fears of losing him, and the two work things out with each other for the sake of their relationship.

At last, we get to sectionals and, to no little surprise, New Directions wins it after a medley of Jackson family songs that get everyone out of their seats. And that's what you missed on Glee.
