Rebel Wilson accused Sacha Baron Cohen of being a “massive a——” for allegedly threatening her over her new memoir.

Wilson’s memoir, Rebel Rising, mentions an unnamed A-list star who hired “a crisis PR manager and lawyers” to stop Wilson from writing about them. The unnamed star was only mentioned in one chapter as an “a——” during a film they starred in.

Wilson posted a video on Instagram talking about the unnamed star.

“When I first came to Hollywood, people were like, yeah, ‘I have a no-asshole policy, it means like, yeah, I don’t work with assholes.’ I was like, ‘Oh yeah. I mean, that sounds sensible or logical,'” Wilson said. “But then it really sunk in [what older people in the industry meant] because I worked with a massive a—— and yeah, now I definitely have a no a—– policy.”

In a deleted Instagram Story, Wilson revealed the star as Baron Cohen after the video went live.

“I will not be bullied or silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers,” Wilson wrote in the story. “The ‘a——‘ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.”

In her memoir, Wilson did not give any specific details about Cohen that could’ve identified him, including the film they were in. Wilson and Cohen starred in two films together, Grimsby and Borat.

Previously, Wilson hinted at a bad experience with Cohen on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show in 2014, the year when Grimsby was in production. Wilson called Cohen “outrageous” and cited the various unscripted scenes Cohen wanted Wilson to do. In the film, Wilson plays the girlfriend of Cohen’s character.

“Every single day he’s like, ‘Rebel, can you just go naked in this scene?’ And I’m like, ‘No!’ Sacha and I have the same agent in America and I’m like, ‘Sacha, I’m going to call our agent, Sharon, and tell her how much you are harassing me.”

A spokesperson for Cohen told The Hollywood Reporter in response to Wilson, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”

In 2022, Alabama Supreme Court justice Roy Moore sued Cohen for defamation, claiming Cohen tricked Moore into appearing in a segment of Who Is America? that referenced allegations against Moore of sexual assault and pedophilia.

Last year, Wilson came out as a lesbian and married her partner. The actress recently had a daughter with her partner and has been spending time in Australia with them.
