Rebecca Black, is back, but this time around she’s not singing about a day of the week — she’s covering Miley Cyrus“We Can’t Stop.”

Black, who shot to internet stardom when she released her now infamous video, “Friday” in 2011, is trying to step away from her reputation as one of the most hated singers ever by posting a more grown up sound on her official YouTube channel.

For the cover of Miley’s scandalous new single, Black and her duet partner Jon D change the lyrics to make it more age appropriate – no lines about strippers or doing cocaine in the bathroom here, just good, clean fun (Black is just 16 after all). The “We Can’t Stop” cover has gotten over 200,000 views on YouTube and is being praised by surprised bloggers as, well, surprisingly not horrible.

Black has been trying to revamp her sound for some time, and hopes to release an album of more mature music soon.

“We’ve put out three singles since "Friday," and it’s all been about figuring out what kind of music is my sound. So I think we finally are getting there, and we’ve been working on putting out a full-length album. But it takes time – we don’t have an official [release] date yet,” Black told Entertainment Weekly back in October.

Black, who described her new sound as “more acoustic [than ‘Friday’]” in the interview, also posted a cover of Rihanna’s hit “Stay,” accompanied by fellow young musician, Dave Days, in April. You can expect more covers to come, as Black announced just a few weeks ago that she would be posting a new video on YouTube every week – on Fridays, naturally.
