Reba McEntire & Boyfriend Rex Linn Contract COVID-19 Despite Being Vaccinated

Reba McEntire has announced that she and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, have both contracted COVID-19 despite being vaccinated.

The country music legend and actress broke the news of her breakthrough COVID-19 diagnosis in a TikTok Livestream video urging her fans to maintain the practice of social distancing and wearing a mask.

“I just want to say one thing, this has been a hard year and it’s getting rougher again,” the songwriter warned at the beginning of her Livestream. “You guys, please stay safe. Wear your mask. Do what you have to do. Stay home.”

“It’s not fun to get this. I did get it. Rex and I got it and it’s not fun. You don’t feel good. We were both vaccinated and we still got it, so stay safe, stay home and be protected the best you can,” the 66-year-old added.

McEntire first began dating her actor boyfriend known for his role starring role as Sgt. Frank Tripp in CSI: Miami in January 2020 before the outbreak of the virus. In her podcast Living And Learning, the country superstar opened up in October about her relationship with the actor and how their new relationship survived through video chats and their profound love for acting.

“We were talking, texting [and using] FaceTime and that’s a really good way to get to know people… It’s good to have a person to talk to, laugh with, get into subjects about what’s going on,” McEntire revealed. “Discussions about our past, our family, funny stories. Him being an actor, me being an actress. He’s very into my music, I’m very into his career. It’s just great getting to talk to somebody who I find very interesting, very funny, very smart and is interested in me too.”

The Grammy-winning singer had plans to head back to Las Vegas to conclude her five-year residency alongside Brooks & Dunn at Caesars Palace for two weeks in December and then hit the road for a solo tour.

Her diagnosis of the virus which is classified as a “breakthrough case” quickly made the country singer question her decision of going about her future touring plans, as the Delta variant continues to spread as the dominant strain throughout the country. The U.S. has recently seen a surge of 107,000 daily COVID cases now affecting those vaccinated.

“I have no idea what plans for next year are. You know, the COVID thing has really hit hard and spikes are going everywhere right now … and it’s all over the country — this new variant,” McEntire said. “We’re just gonna move forward, keep praying that everybody stays safe and healthy, and wear your mask and just be safe.”

McEntire has currently canceled all upcoming The Reba: Live in Concert Tour summer dates that were previously postponed from last year due to coronavirus diagnosis. Her rescheduled dates for her 12 canceled Midwest shows will begin January 13, 2022 in Evansville, Indiana.
