Ray Rice, the Baltimore Ravens running back, spoke to reporters Thursday about his domestic violence incident with his now-wife Janay Palmer that has resulted in a two-game suspension.
Rice called his actions in the elevator at an Atlantic City casino earlier this year “inexcusable,” adding, "You know that's not me. You know that's something I have to live with the rest of my life."
Confronting reports that have suggested that Palmer attacked Rice first, Rice is taking full blame for the incident. "I let so many people down because of 30 seconds in my life that you know, I know I can't take back,” said Rice, who went on to say that his wife, “can do no wrong. She’s an angel.”
Rice also revealed that he and Palmer are currently in counseling. Once they feel like they’ve mended the flaws in their relationship, the football star hopes that they can help others who struggle with domestic violence issues.
"We're in counseling. We're taking the necessary steps to move forward," said Rice. "When the time is right we will go out there and help as many people as we can."
Back in February, a video leaked showing Rice pulling an unconscious Palmer out of an elevator at Revel Casino. When Palmer regained consciousness and cops spoke with the couple, they were both charged with domestic violence-simple assault and released with summonses.
Atlantic City police dropped the criminal charges, but upon review of the incident the NFL opted to suspend Rice for the first two games of the Ravens' 2014 season.
She added, “Power couple emerging 20225 let's EAT🍰”
