Accio Prequel! JK Rowling, bestselling author of the Harry Potter franchise, called upon the Order of the Phoenix and her Twitter followers for help last week. Rowling revealed that she had previously auctioned off to charity a handwritten prequel to the franchise but that the note card containing the story had been stolen. Die-hard fans of the wizarding world have long awaited for a prequel to the Harry Potter franchise, making the stolen document extremely valuable.

The West Midlands Police Department shared a photo of the missing notecard on Friday, hoping to move the case forward by appealing to Harry Potter fans.  The statement tweeted by the West Midlands Police department read as follows, “We are asking #HarryPotter fans to help share our appeal after a rare Harry Potter prequel by @jk_rowling was stolen. The story, penned personally by @jk_rowling over 2 sides of an A5 postcard is extremely valuable & stolen during a burglary in #KingsHeath”.

Since the only people who are likely to buy the prequel are staunch Harry Potter fans, investigating Officer PC Paul Jauncey hopes that anyone who sees, or is offered this item for sale will contact police.

Rowling herself pleaded to her over 10 million followers on Twitter, “PLEASE DON’T BUY THIS IF YOU’RE OFFERED IT. Originally auctioned for @englishpen, the owner supported writers’ freedoms by bidding for it”.

The burglary occurred in late April but since the police have been unable to locate the stolen documents they are hoping that fans loyal to the Harry Potter franchise will open up new leads in the investigation.
