Rapper Travis Scott has been involved in two separate incidents, one in Paris and the other in Miami, that have landed him in legal trouble.
In the latest development, Scott, 33, was arrested in Paris on August 9 after an alleged altercation involving a security guard and his bodyguard at a luxury hotel. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m., with the police being called to the George V Hotel to apprehend Scott due to his “violent behavior” toward the security guard who had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard.
Scott’s representative has since responded to the incident and stated that they are in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to resolve the matter swiftly and will provide updates as appropriate.
This latest arrest comes on the heels of another legal matter in Miami Beach just a month prior. In late June, authorities responded to a disturbance at the harbor, where they found Scott “standing by the dock and yelling” at a nearby docked yacht. The police reported detecting the smell of alcohol on Scott’s breath. They noted that he initially complied with their requests to sit down but then “continuously stood back up, disregarding officers’ commands.”
While Scott’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, disputed the sequence of events, the rapper was arrested and booked on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing of property after a warning. Although the disorderly intoxication charges were subsequently dropped on August 8, according to records, Scott is still facing a misdemeanor trespassing charge.
Cohen said, “Mr. Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding… There was absolutely no physical altercation involved, and we thank the authorities for working with us toward a swift and amicable resolution.”
The recent legal troubles come as Scott has been attending the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He was spotted seated alongside fellow rapper Quavo at the men’s basketball semi-final match, where Team USA defeated Serbia. Hours after the match, Scott shared a video on his Instagram Stories of himself at a local club next to DJ Lucky in the DJ booth.
