Rapper King Louie Shot In Head, Recovering

King Louie, the up-and-coming Chicago rapper, was shot in the head Wednesday in the city’s Southwest Side Ashburn neighborhood.

Louie, whose legal name is Louis Johnson Jr., was shot in his vehicle at about 3:30 p.m. local time, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.  He survived the gunshot wound and is now recovering and in stable condition at the Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Louie is “awake and talking,” the rapper’s management told the Sun-Times. 

Further details about the shooting or Louie’s condition are not yet available.

Louie burst onto the scene in 2009, when he coined the terms “Chi-Raq” and “Drillinois.” “Drillinois” plays off of Chicago’s trap hip-hop sub-genre “Drill” popularized by his contemporaries, including Lil Reese and Chief Keef.

Spike Lee directed a film called Chi-Raq that premiered earlier this month. Incidentally, Louis dropped the track “F–k Spike Lee” on the same day.
