Rapper Kid Cudi Responds To Young Fan's Death

Having heard about the death of one of his biggest fans, rapper Kid Cudi (real name Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi), 27, wrote a heartfelt letter to his biggest fan, Ben Breedlove, who died of a heart attack due to his struggle with heart condition hypertrophic cardiomyopathy on Christmas day at the age of 18.

Last week, Breedlove posted videos on YouTube that described his struggle in facing his fatal condition. In the second of the two videos, he mentions his admiration for Cudi and his work, and how he had a dream in which Cudi was "the only one" in a hospital room with him. The flashcards he holds up spell out his feeling in the dream. "I couldn't stop smiling … I was proud of MYSELF, of my entire life, everything I have done. It was the BEST feeling."

After Breedlove's death, Cudi posted a response to the video on his blog. "I am so sad about Ben Breedlove," he wrote. "I watched the video he left for the world to see, and him seeing me in detail, in his vision really warmed my heart. I broke down, I am to tears because I hate how life is so unfair. This has really touched my heart in a way I can't describe, this is why I do what I do."

Cudi added, "I know that Ben is at Peace, and I hope he gets a chance to sit and talk with my Dad. We love you Ben. Forever. Thank you for loving me. To Ben's family, you raised a real hero, he's definitely mine. You have my love."
