On Tuesday, rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested after performing at the Smash Hip Hop Festival in Stockholm, following a street altercation for suspected assault. Three others were also involved in the incident.

The release statement confirmed that the arrival of the police occurred at 1:00 am local time on Wednesday, July 3.

A spokesperson for the Stockholm Prosecutor’s Office told People, “He has been arrested and the prosecutor now has until 12:00 pm on Saturday — at the very latest — to request that he is either detained or released.”

“He is in police custody. He’s in a police station,” the spokesperson continued. “Theoretically the prosecutor could make their decision today, but I don’t think they will,” the spokesperson continued.

The incident that the rapper was involved in was initially revealed when he went on Instagram and detailed the events. The first video he shared showed, what seemed to be, the beginning of the street incident that led later to the arrests.

Viewers can see that the rapper, and his entourage, were approached by two men on the street when an argument between them broke out. A$AP Rocky explained the incident in the caption of the video.

“So a few drug addicts are not my fans,” he claimed. “We don’t know these guys and we didn’t want trouble, they followed us for 4 blocks, and they were slapping girls butts who passed, give me a break.”

The rapper uploaded another video on Instagram TV, where one of the men can be seen hitting his security guard with a pair of headphones.

A$AP Rocky captioned the video with, “Hits security Guard in the face with headphones and then follows us.”

Nearing the end of the video, a woman is heard speaking to the rapper about how the men inappropriately touched her and her girlfriend.

The investigation is still in the initial stages and there is no information or evidence that can currently be given, according to the prosecutor’s office press release.
