Radiohead announced Monday that they would be embarking on a world tour this summer.
It was previously announced that Radiohead would be playing their first live shows since 2012, making appearances at a number of popular summer festivals. Yesterday, the band took the announcement a step further, revealing that they would be going on a world tour, which will commence in May.
The world tour will kick off in Amsterdam on May 20, before continuing the European leg in Paris, London, Barcelona, Reykjavik, Lisbon and other cities. Radiohead will then head stateside, playing in New York and Los Angeles, with a stop in Montreal for the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in between. Other dates include concerts in Tokyo, Berlin and Mexico City.
It’s been speculated that Radiohead is on the verge of dropping a new album. Band members Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Philip Selway were spotted working at the studio back in September 2015. And not long after, the group registered a new company, Dawn Chorus LLP, according to Pitchfork. Incidentally, it’s Radiohead’s practice to establish companies before dropping surprise albums.
Adding fuel to the speculation about the forthcoming album is the new artwork that the band shared on Twitter (above) and Facebook.
