R.E.M Calls Out Donald Trump For Using Their Song At His Campaign Rally

Rock band R.E.M called out Donald Trump on Wednesday for using their song on his campaign trail.

R.E.M Slams Donald Trump For Using Their Song

Trump took the stage at Capitol Hill on Wednesday, for a rally to oppose the Iran deal, as R.E.M.’s song “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” played over the sound system.

R.E.M lead singer Michael Stipe let out his anger towards Trump in an email.

“Go f—k yourselves, the lot of you — you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men,” Stipe said in his email to The Daily Beast. “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign.”

When Twitter users asked R.E.M bass player Mike Mills for his comments on Trump playing their song, Mills responded with “Cease and desist.”

“Personally, I think the Orange Clown would do anything for attention. I hate giving it to him,” Mills added.

Mills then tweeted the link to an official statement from the band that was posted to Facebook.

“While we do not authorize or condone the use of our music at this political event, and do ask that these candidates cease and desist from doing so, let us remember that there are things of greater importance at stake here,” the band pointed out. “The media and the American voter should focus on the bigger picture, and not allow grandstanding politicians to distract us from the pressing issues of the day and of the current Presidential campaign.”
