Quentin Tarantino’s new blockbuster The Hateful Eight has released its first trailer on Wednesday.
“For me it has more of a Western Iceman Cometh kind of vibe about it,” Tarantino told EW about the film. “[It’s] a bunch of guys in a room who can’t trust each other. That wasn’t a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle,” the director revealed.
The Hateful Eight trailer certainly has viewers ready for another Tarantino historical thriller, featuring guns, action and a bit of comedy.
The Hateful Eight is set years after the Civil War, and the plot surrounds a stagecoach riding through a Wyoming winter. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth and his fugitive Daisy Domergue, race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the journey, the duo encounter six more strangers and are forced into hiding with the others, until the blizzard comes to an end.
The Hateful Eight cast includes Tarantino faves: Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern.
“For me, it’s the same guy, but he has a lot more toys. He’s got all of the equipment to play with,” Roth, who starred in Tarantino films Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, said of the director during an interview at Comic-Con.
“He’s was born to do it, and he got to do it, and he does it well. And now he’s got a lot of things he can play around with. It was a lot of fun,” Roth added.
