Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip Will Not Be Attending Prince Louis’s Christening

Queen Elizabeth and husband, Prince Philip, will not be attending the christening of Prince Louis, their sixth great-grandchild today, the Kensington Palace announced.

According to the UK’s Press Association, their absence from the event is not due to any health concerns and was mutually agreed upon between the Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton. This decision was made some time ago, but was only revealed today.

The Queen’s absences is most likely due to her busy schedule. Among her other royal duties, she is also preparing for the 100th birthday of the the Royal Air Force, a special service will be held tomorrow. She is also hosting President Donald Trump on Friday at the Windsor Castle.

As for Prince Philip, he has retired from the public eye last September and has only made a few appearances since then. He also had a hip surgery, but was recovered in time for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Despite their absence, it seems that everyone else in the royal family will be attending the ceremony at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla and Kate’s family, Michael, Carole, James and Pippa Middleton, will all be attending.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, tweeted that it was a privileged of his to be a part of today’s ceremony.
