Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince George and Prince William posed in a photoshoot for a stamp sheet to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The current monarch and the future monarchs were gathered in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace last summer for the photoshoot. Prince George was “as good as gold” standing for the picture atop foam blocks, royal aids told the Daily Mail. Taking the photograph was Royal Mail photographer Ranald Mackechnie.
The picture is being used for a stamp sheet to mark Queen Elizabeth’s birthday. The sheet, which has perforations around each of the royals’ heads, includes four First Class stamps.
In addition to the stamp sheet featuring the Queen and her three heirs in the line of succession, are six more stamps to mark the monarch’s 90th. Three of the stamps feature black and white images of the Queen with her family – one with her father, another with her husband Prince Phillip and a third with two of her children. The remaining three stamps represent her official role as monarch.
Queen Elizabeth is the longest-reigning British monarch, as well as the longest-reigning queen regnant in world history. Her reign began in 1952 following the passing of her father, King George VI. She was coronated the following year.
