Tigran Keosayan, the sanctioned Russian propagandist, has gone into a coma and has been declared “clinically dead.”
Keosayan’s wife, Margarita Simonyan, 44, who heads the slavish Russia Today international media empire, revealed his condition in a Telegram post after rumors swept Moscow.
There was speculation that Simonyan’s husband could have been the target of a Ukrainian military intelligence death squad, but she asserted that his condition was a result of heart weakness.
“I didn’t want to [say anything] until the very end, but since reporters have already started calling, I’ll write [it] myself,” she wrote in the post. “My husband, Tigran Keosayan, survived clinical death and is in a coma.”
“As many people know, he has had a very sick heart for a long time,” she added. “I don’t know how to write circles in intensive care and take selfies of my sobs, so please forgive me for not writing on social networks,” Simonyan shared.
“Tigran’s mother, like mine, lives with us,” she stated. “It is impossible to describe the state of a woman who lost her eldest son two years ago and is now waiting with all her might for the Lord to have mercy on her youngest.”
“I dare to ask those who love Tigran to pray for him,” she asked her followers.
Since 2016, Keosayan has hosted the propaganda program International Sawmill on the Russian NTV channel.
Before the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia imposed sanctions against him.
One of the Keosayan’s various tirades was a threat to use nuclear weapons.
“Should we – or not,” he once asked his viewers. “That’s the question everyone is asking. I would have two years ago.”
He once urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to use nuclear bombs in Ukraine.
“I want to address the Ukrainians,” Keosayan said in one of his statements. “You are dying in the hundreds of thousands to get rid of one colonial dependence – the Russians – and fall into another colonial dependence, the Americans.”
“Only this new dependence does not have a single similar word to you, not a single genetically similar molecule,” the propagandist added. “Are you dying for this?”
