Pusha T is responsible for the catchy and long-running McDonald’s jingle, “I’m Lovin’ It,” performed by Justin Timberlake.
It has long been believed that Timberlake and Pharrell composed McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle. However, Steve Stoute, the CEO of the Translation marketing firm that created the campaign, recently revealed that Pusha T was actually the composer behind the infectious jingle.
In an interview with Hot 97’s Ebro Darden, Stoute admitted that the McDonald’s campaign goes down as one of Translation’s “first big” projects. When Darden shouted out Pharrell and Timberlake for their work on the jingle, Stoute clarified, “You know who did that? Pusha T. That’s crazy that Pusha T wrote the song to McDonald’s!”
While Stoute couldn’t remember just how much McDonald’s forked over to Translation for the “I’m Lovin’ It” campaign, he could say that, at the end of the day, “Nobody was upset.” And even though Timberlake didn’t compose the jingle, he took home a hefty sum for just performing it—$6 million.
