On Monday, a prosecutor in the first day of sentencing hearings for Bill Cosby asked a judge to give the comedian five to ten years in prison for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004.
Meanwhile, 81-year-old Cosby’s lawyer Joseph Green said his client is too old and weak to serve time in prison. Green also claimed the comedian was being “extorted” and recommended house arrest or placement in a rehabilitation center as an alternative for his client, who is legally blind.
In April, Cosby was convicted of drugging and assaulting Andrea Constand, a Temple University women’s basketball staff member, at his home in Pennsylvania in 2004. Judge Steven O’Neill is reportedly set to sentence the former star of The Cosby Show on Tuesday, and couldhim as a “sexually violent predator.”

According to CNN, the once-beloved comic was initially facing a potential 30-year sentence for the assault. Cosby could now possibly become the first famous man to serve prison time in the #MeToo era.
More than 60 women have accused Cosby of some form of sexual misconduct, although he has not thus far been convicted for any of these allegations. Besides Constand, two of the comedian’s accusers were reportedly present in the Norristown, Pennsylvania courtroom on Monday.
