Prisoner Admits To Involvement In 1994 Shooting Of Tupac Shakur

Dexter Isaac, a prisoner who is serving a life sentence in the state of New York, posted an online statement Wednesday night announcing his involvement in the 1994 robbery and attack of the late Tupac Shakur, an event that triggered the East vs. West Coast conflict in rap music, which left both Shakur and Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace dead just two and three years later, respectively.

Isaac, a former friend of James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, claims that the music mogul paid him $2500, plus the bulk of the robbery loot, to attack Shakur outside Quad Studio in New York. Though Shakur was shot during the attack, he fully recovered and later publicly accused Biggie and Sean “P-Diddy” Combs of being behind the attacks.

Issac, who is imprisoned on unrelated charges, reportedly came forward to “clear up a few things,” now that Rosemond is on the run from a federal investigation for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking ring. “Jimmy, I say to you: I have kept your secrets for years,” Issacs told AllHipHop.com in a statement addressing Rosemond himself. “I have stayed silent in prison for the past 13 years, doing a life sentence like a real soldier should when you and everybody have turned your backs on me …. Now … the statute of limitations is over, and no one can be charged, and I’m just plain tired of listening to your lies.”

Seventeen years after the incident and 15 years after Shakur’s death, Isaac wanted “to apologize to [Shakur’s] family and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Rosemond]. I am trying to clean it up to give [Shakur and Wallace’s] mothers some closure.”

New York City detectives are investigating the confession. Shakur was born 40 years ago today in East Harlem, New York.
