After a nearly eight year break, Prison Break season five will return to Fox early in 2017.
It was confirmed last summer that Fox was rebooting the series for a special 10-episode engagement in 2017. While the seeming series finale in 2009 left our protagonist Michael Scofield, portrayed by Wentworth Miller, dead, season five promises new adventures, as Michael is held in a prison in Yemen on suspicion of terrorism. When his brother Lincoln Burrows, played by Dominic Purcell, finds out of Michael’s incarceration, he rallies the gang to help his brother escape.
“You can’t imagine a more dangerous situation to be in, but all is not as it seems,” Miller says in the sneak peak. “Breaking out of prison is just the beginning; we have to break out of the country itself.”
“Everything is a threat from all sides,” explains creator/executive producer Paul Scheuring. “You don’t know who to trust.”
Many favorites from the original cast will be back for the upcoming season, and they seem thrilled to once again be part of the ‘Prison Break’ universe. “It’s gonna be incredibly exciting,” Purcell admits. “I think that this is going to be better than the original ‘Prison Break.'”
