Priscilla Presley Remembers Daughter Lisa Marie Presley On Second Anniversary Of Her Death At 54

On the second anniversary of Lisa Marie Presley‘s death, her mother, Priscilla Presley, paid tribute in a post on social media.

Lisa Marie, the daughter of the late musical “King,” Elvis Presley, died of a heart attack on Jan. 12, 2023, at 54 years old, due to complications related to bariatric surgery. She was buried at the Graceland estate next to her father and son Benjamin, who died in 2020 by suicide.

Presley’s caption read, “I miss you more than words can say,” accompanied by a photo of Lisa Marie crouching down with a slight smile. “I wish I would hold you, talk to you, see your smile just one more time. I wish you could see how much you are still loved, how deeply you are missed by all of us who carry you in our hearts.

The post was overlayed with an instrumental version of Elvis’ 1972 hit “Always on My Mind.” Presley signed off the statement, “Mom.”

Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood, Lisa Marie’s daughteralso honored her mother on Instagram, writing, “I can’t believe it’s been 2 years, I miss you and love you so much, mama ♥️🕊️,” and Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter, Riley Keough, marked the anniversary with a series of photos on her Instagram story.

Lisa Marie’s memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, was published posthumously in October. It was finished with the help of Keough and tapes Lisa Marie recorded before her death.

In October, Keough told The View, “[Lisa Marie] had been through so much. She had gone through addiction…all of these human, relatable things. And I think she felt that people would connect to it and relate to it and maybe feel a little less lonely in the world.”

Keough explained the depths of her mother’s depression in the interview. “My mom physically died from the after-effects of her surgery, but we all knew she died of a broken heart,” she said. Lisa Marie’s memoir revealed that her grief over her son’s suicide manifested in her keeping his body in the house, packed in dry ice, for two months following his death.

Lisa Marie died days after she attended the 80th Golden Globes, where the biopic Elvis was nominated for three awards. Austin Butler, who played the movie’s titular character, ultimately won Best Actor in a Drama for his performance. In his acceptance speech, he called special attention to the Presley family, saying, “Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me…Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.”

At the pre-award show party, Lisa Marie commended the biopic: “I’m so overwhelmed by this film and the effect that it had and what [director Baz Luhrmann] and Austin have done. I’m so proud. And I know that my father would be very proud.
