The Minnesota probate judge overseeing the late Prince’s estate has declared his six siblings are the heirs to the multiple millions of dollars he left behind.
The late singer’s sister, Tyka Nelson, and half-siblings Omarr Baker, Alfred Jackson, Sharon Nelson, Norrine Nelson and John Nelson will divide the worth of Prince estate, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
More than 45 people had come forward claiming to be potential heirs since the time of the singer’s death. Judge Kevin Eide previously ruled that the artist’s siblings will still not be able to collect until some of those claimants’ appeals are resolved. However, lawyers for Prince’s siblings didn’t want to wait, saying further delays would increase costs to the estate.
Prince’s estate is estimated to be around $200 million, before taxes.
The judge also said Prince’s assets won’t be distributed without a formal court order and that nothing will be distributed that might adversely affect the claims of those with pending appeals.
Prince was found dead April 21, 2016, in an elevator at his estate in suburban Minneapolis. An autopsy report released in part found he died of an accidental overdose of the painkiller fentanyl.
