Prince‘s death is still under investigation, with authorities issuing a search warrant for his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minn.
Law enforcement officials issued a search warrant for Prince’s estate earlier this week, and then sought to have the findings of the search warrant sealed. On Thursday, Minnesota district court judge Eric J. Braaten authorized the request, reported Time. The search warrant results will not be filed as a public document for six months or the duration of the criminal case, whichever happens first.
It is believed that detectives, who found opioid medication on Prince’s person at the time of his death, are looking for more evidence of drugs, prescriptions and other medical information, reported TMZ.
Prince had allegedly developed a dependency on pain killers since hip troubles started to plague him several years ago. And, just one week prior to his death, he had overdosed while flying home to Minnesota from Atlanta, forcing an emergency landing in Illinois, where he was given a save shot.
Prince, the music legend known for songs like “1999” and “Purple Rain,” was cremated and laid to rest last week.
“A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye,” a statement from his publicist read. “Prince’s remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private. We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort for his family and close friends at this time.”
“The cause of death remains unknown and it will be at least four weeks before we receive the results of the autopsy,” the rep added. “An announcement will be made at a future date for a musical celebration.”
