Prince William and Kate Middleton Advertise For Household Help

Kate Middleton and Prince William are in search of a housekeeper of all trades that can come aboard once the baby arrives.

The expecting royal couple have placed an internal advertisement at Buckingham Palace calling for someone "to provide a high standard of housekeeping for TRH [their royal highnesses] The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge," reports the U.K's Sunday Express.

Outlined in the advertisement are the myriad responsibilities the hire should expect to undertake. “Main duties include: Ensuring all areas of the residence are cleaned and maintained to a high standard at all times. Caring for and maintaining TRH personal clothing, Cleaning silver-ware and glassware and in-house laundry.” In addition, the hired servant must have a valid UK driving license and be prepared to run errands, prepare basic meals when required and take care of the couple's dogs.

"Obviously the prestige of working for the world's most famous couple is an incentive," said a royal insider referring to the 15 people who've already applied. "The advert states that they'll be required to work extra hours and you can bet your life they will," the insider added. "Most people employed as housekeepers expect to do a bit of cooking on the side, but walking dogs and driving too? And there's also going to be a baby to factor into the equation. It's unprecedented."

Ever protective of their private lives, William and Kate also ask that those who apply realize that "discretion, loyalty and reliability are paramount." Perhaps it is their desire for privacy that has resulted in the couple keeping a small and efficient entourage. Although William does have a "man Friday," Kate does not reportedly have any plans to hire a lady-in-waiting. There is also no indication that the Duke and Duchess want to forego the normalcy of grocery shopping and cooking for one another.

However, there are a couple of changes imminent for the royal couple. Their new apartment at Kensington Palace will become their main residence as soon as late summer, after Kate gives birth to the baby. It might also soon be time for Prince William to give up his career as a military man and dedicate himself fully to his role as a royal.

“I’m still trying to decide. It’s a really difficult one because I really enjoy my time in the Air Force. But the pressures of my other life are building. And fighting them off or balancing the two of them has proven quite difficult," the prince said in an interview during last year's Diamond Jubilee. –Chelsea Regan
