Prince died suddenly Thursday morning at age 57 at his home in Minnesota, shocking the music world and his many fans. As of yet, it’s unknown what caused Prince’s death, though it was reported that he had been suffering from flu-related symptoms.
Prince released his first couple of albums in the 1970s, but it wasn’t until the 80s that he came into his own as a music icon. Part of his success came from his starring turn in Purple Rain and its critically-acclaimed album.
In 2007, Prince delivered a memorable performance for Super Bowl XLI’s halftime show.
