Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have encountered another staffing challenge just days before their scheduled tour of Colombia.
Josh Kettler, who joined the Sussexes’ team as chief of staff in May, has abruptly left his position. Kettler, a Santa Barbara resident with a background in various industries, including entertainment and environmental services, was expected to accompany the couple on their upcoming four-day visit to Colombia beginning Thursday.
Representatives for the Duke and Duchess have not commented on Kettler’s departure or the reasons behind it. This latest staffing change adds to a pattern of turnover within the couple’s organization since their 2018 wedding, with reports suggesting that at least 18 employees have left their employ during this period.
The frequency of staff departures has raised questions about the work environment within the Sussexes’ organization. Former employees have expressed doubts about whether past staff members would choose to work for the couple again, given the opportunity.
Kettler’s hiring earlier this year was seen as a strategic move to support Prince Harry’s evolving public role. The executive had previously demonstrated his capabilities during the prince’s recent trips to London and Nigeria, where he played a significant role in coordinating events and logistics.
This staffing instability comes at a crucial time for the Duke and Duchess as they prepare for what some are calling a “quasi-royal tour” of Colombia. The couple, who stepped back from official royal duties in 2020, have been working to establish their independent brand and charitable initiatives since relocating to California.
Prince Harry is set to inherit $8.4 million from his grandmother’s estate, which has upset his estranged brother, Prince William.
