Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Set A Date For Their Royal Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have set a date for their royal wedding in 2018.

PRINCE HARRY & MEGHAN MARKLE SET WEDDING DATE

The couple has chosen May 19 for their wedding day. They announced their engagement on Sept. 27 of this year. The pair will say their vows in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where Prince William and Kate Middleton were married in 2011. Windsor Castle is one of Queen Elizabeth II‘s main residences.

May 19 does present a conflict for Prince William, however. As the president of the English Football Association, the prince attends major soccer matches and often presents the winners with a trophy. This past May, William presented FA Cup winner, Arsenal, with their prize. May 19, 2018 is the date of the FA Cup next year, so it appears William will need to find someone to fill in for him at the match.

Harry’s communications secretary, Jason Knauf, said last month that the wedding “will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the bride and groom.” Harry also made it clear in a statement that the royal family, not the British taxpayers, will pay for the entire royal shindig, including the church service, music, decorations, and reception. Further details are being kept secret by the royal family.

Knauf did not disclose whether Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will preside over the service. The royal titles that will be assigned to both Prince Harry and Markle will be decided at a later date by the queen. The Palace has also stated that Markle, 36, will complete all immigration requirements to become a British citizen, which could take several years. Knauf also revealed that Markle is a Protestant and will be baptized in the Church of England, of which the Queen is the ceremonial head.
