Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly quit all social media platforms. A close source revealed to The Times in London that the “hate” that the two have encountered on social media has led them to this decision.
The couple allegedly are “very unlikely” to resume using their personal accounts and have “no plans” to use social media for their new company, “Archewell”. This comes after Markle, who has previously stated that the hate she receives online is nearly “unsurvivable,” recently posted to social media that she had not been active in a very long time.
“I’ve made a personal choice to not have any account, so I don’t know what’s out there, and many ways that’s helpful for me. I have a lot of concerns for people that have become obsessed with it. And it is so much a part of our daily culture for so many people that it’s an addiction like many others. There are very few things in this world where you call the person who is engaging with it a user.”
The couple relocated to Southern California in 2020 after announcing that they had chosen to step down from their royal titles. Since their resignation, they have landed a podcast deal with Spotify, and a production deal with Netflix, in which they plan to release feature films, scripted series, documentaries, and children’s content.
