Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found a way to honor Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, in their newborn son’s name.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born Monday and the couple revealed his name to the public two days later. His name has great significance to his royal ancestry.
His surname, Mountbatten-Windsor, is the name that belongs to all descendent of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. His middle name, Harrison, literally means “son of Harry.”

The child’s first name shares a connection to Diana’s ancestor, Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll. He lives from 1629 to 1685, and he was a Scottish Protestant executed for exposing Catholic James II.

In a joint interview after their engagement in 2017, Harry said his mother would have loved Meghan.
