Prince Edward spoke out about the controversy caused by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leaving the United Kingdom and the backlash couple has faced after naming their newborn Lilibet Diana.
“It’s difficult for everyone but that’s families for you,” he told CNN. “We wish them the very best of luck. It’s a really hard decision,” he said, referring to their move to the U.S.
During an interview with BBC, Edward was asked about Markle and Harry’s newborn baby and his opinion on the name they chose for her, which is Queen Elizabeth’s nickname.
“Well, we just wish them all happiness,” he said. “That’s fantastic news and absolutely, I hope they’re very happy.”
Edward also said he finds their lack of privacy sad. “We’ve all had that same spotlight shone on our lives,” he said. “We’ve been subjected to massive intrusion and all the rest of it. We all deal with it in different ways.”
