TV host Piers Morgan has publicly named the two royals who allegedly made comments about the skin color of Harry and Meghan’s son Archie.
According to Morgan, the names were mentioned in the Dutch version of Omid Scobie’s new biography, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival. The biography named King Charles III and Princess Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William, as the two who made comments about Archie’s potential skin complexion.
Scobie alleges in the book that Markle wrote private letters to Charles naming two royals who took part in “troubling” conversations surrounding her and her then-unborn son’s skin complexion. In the final edition of the book, Scobie did not name the family members who made the remarks. However, several translations, including the Dutch translation, had the names printed.
Xander, the Dutch publisher, is currently trying to pull the book out of stores.
Morgan believes that the British people should know this information. “Frankly, if Dutch people wandering into a bookshop can pick it up and see these names, then you — the British people here, who actually pay for the British royal family — you’re entitled to know, too,” he said.
Markle first made the allegation in 2021, claiming that there were several questions about Archie’s potential skin complexion that she found insensitive and discomforting.
In light of the news, Buckingham Palace is reported to be “considering all options” in response to the allegations.
Meghan is currently being sued by her half-sister, Samantha Markle, for defamation.
