Prince Announces Surprise Shows At The Paramount Theater In Oakland
Prince has announced that he will be writing his memoir, set to be released in 2017.
The artist delivered his news at a show in New York City on Friday night, adding that the publishers made him “an offer I can’t refuse.”
The book, titled The Beautiful Ones, will be published by the Penguin Random House imprint Spiegel & Grau in the fall of 2017.
“This is my first [book],” he told the Manhattan crowd. “My brother Dan is helping me with it. He’s a good critic and that’s what I need. He’s not a ‘yes’ man at all and he’s really helping me get through this. We’re starting from the beginning from my first memory and hopefully we can go all the way up to the Super Bowl.”
Prince has promised to include his musical works, the people he has met and the things he has learned over his 57 years.
“Prince is a towering figure in global culture and his music has been the soundtrack for untold numbers of people — including me — for more than a generation; his creative genius has provided the musical landscape of our lives,” said Spiegel & Grau Executive Editor Chris Jackson.
