Prince Andrew has reportedly gathered enough funds to continue supporting himself and maintain his residence at the Royal Lodge, just weeks after King Charles ceased financial support and requested he leave the property.
The source of Andrew’s recent funding remains uncertain—his only confirmed regular income comes from a Royal Navy pension. However, the crown’s financial director confirmed the funds come from legitimate sources, according to The Sunday Times.
After being shunned by the royal family due to his ties with Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew has relied on a generous allowance from King Charles. His expenses have included over $3 million per year for personal security, a cost King Charles recently refused to cover. He instructed Andrew to move from the Royal Lodge to Frogmore Cottage unless he could begin paying his own way.
Defying these orders, Andrew has continued living at the 30-room, $38 million Royal Lodge on Windsor Castle’s grounds. He then secured enough finances to avoid relocating to Frogmore Cottage—a five-bedroom home previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Since 2004, Andrew has lived at the Royal Lodge with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.
In addition to his royal allowance, he has generated income through various real estate ventures, including the $20 million sale of Sunninghill Park in 2007 and the sale of a Swiss ski chalet in 2022.
In 2017, Andrew took out a $1.9 million loan from a Luxembourg bank, which was swiftly repaid by financier David Rowland.
One royal biographer noted that Andrew’s association with Epstein raised concerns about his recent influx of cash.
Andrew faced a lawsuit from Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser, in 2021, who alleged that she was coerced into encounters with him as a teenager. The lawsuit was settled out of court in the following year for an undisclosed multimillion-dollar sum.
